Formerly Old Mid-Whitgi昀琀ian Rugby Club
Following last season's 昀椀nal day
demoli}on of Old Walcoun}ans for
the 1st XV to retain their place in
Surrey & Sussex League 1 (level 7)
reten}on and recruitment were the
key objec}ves over the summer!
The signing of Trinity School teacher
George Kimmins as the clubs new
player/coach from league rivals
London Cornish was a major coup! Not
only did George bring his coaching
knowledge and playing experience but
he has also helped to strengthen the
link with the school that the club had
been working hard on over the last
few years! With the addi}on of
George to the coaching team Ma琀琀
Higgins, on the back of his excellent
work from the previous season, has
moved up to the posi}on of head
coach with Andy Edwards taking a step
away from the training pitch to take
over as Director of Rugby. George
Daniels has con}nuing to run Monday
training sessions as well as running the
2nd team with Jack Greenwood taking
over the 2nd XV captaincy. As a result
of these changes special thanks needs
to be given to Laurence Oliver and
Tom Caplin for their contribu}ons to
the club as Chairman of Playing and
AXV Captain respec}vely.
The reforma琀琀ed club dinner also
played a huge role in the club9s
recruitment strategy with the Starling

Fund paying for two tables of recent
Trinity School leavers to a琀琀end the
dinner. A number of these a琀琀endees
deciding aver this event that they
wanted to be part of the project that
was being built!
Pre-season training over the summer
therefore saw a large in昀氀ux of new
players join our ranks with 92 di昀昀erent
players taking part! A big social media
campaign extended our reach beyond
just the recent Trinity School leaver
with other recruits coming from our
long-standing rela}onship with
Riddlesdown Collegiate to as far away
as Maccles昀椀eld RFC! We were also
delighted to welcome guest coaches
Kieran Roche and Mike Friday to take
sessions and thanks to Julian Chenery
and Chris Grierson we were able to
produce an awesome professional
promo}on video!
Our pre-season warm up 昀椀xture
against level 6 side Darvordians
showed the type of fast free 昀氀owing
exci}ng rugby we were looking to play
but this was just a teaser of what was
to follow once the league season got
underway!
First up for the 1st XV were Old
Haileyburians! With cricket season in
their 昀椀nal week at Lime Meadow
Avenue the game took place at Trinity
School with head of rugby at the
School, Paul Roberts, one of 8 players
making their league debut for the
club. The bank was full of current and
recent school leavers along with our
band of regular supporters and was a
great opportunity for the club to
showcase themselves to the wider
Trinity community! It was a close
