Sheriff’s Office joins
statewide response to
Bootleg Fire
I
n July 2021, CCSO sent four
deputies to Lake County in
southern Oregon — answering
a call for help from the Lake County
Sheriff.
They joined deputies and other first responders
from across the state assisting with evacuations and
other logistical backup on the Bootleg Fire, at the
time the nation’s biggest wildfire.
Over 39 days in July and August, the Bootleg
Fire consumed over 600 square miles — more than
413,000 acres.
CCSO deputies helped with door-to-door notices
of evacuation level changes for the City of Paisley
and the surrounding areas, working closely with
several agencies. They also lent a hand during a
successful search operation to find a lost firefighter
who was separated from his team while working spot
fires near the burn area.
