Bombard ‘em with Mailers
Typically, local PACs spend most of their
money on postcard mailers. Mailers are timehonored means of influencing local elections.
As one campaign worker explained to me, you
have to deal with a piece of mail. You have to
hold it, read it, and decide what to do with it. A
postcard mailer’s message is printed on both
sides. It doesn’t have to be opened. That
postcard mailer will wind up in the trash
eventually, but the voter will see it and read it
so they can decide what to do with it. With
postcard mailers, there’s a high likelihood that
the political message is delivered. How many
times do you throw out mail without at least
reading what it is?
Once absentee (aka mail-in) ballots go out,
election mailers start showing up in voters’
mailboxes. Stung the voter mailbox is an
eective way for a candidate to gain name
recognition. An onslaught of mailers in support
of a candidate from one or more PACS
