GRIFF
K9 Griff joined the team early in 2021 with his handler
Deputy Terry. Griff and Deputy Terry passed their
official police canine certification shortly after and
got to work on the road supporting patrol. The pair
quickly logged several captures in the first few weeks
on the road. One of Griff’s first capture was a male
subject running from an apartment complex who
had menaced someone with a handgun. Griff tracked
for about 30 minutes and located the subject hiding
inside an RV, and the subject was taken into custody
without the use of force.
Griff is a 3-year-old German Shepherd/Belgian
Malinois mix trained to sit and bark when locating
a subject and to bite and hold when commanded.
Deputy Terry is an avid baseball fan, and Griff is
named after Deputy Terry’s favorite baseball player,
Ken Griffey Jr.
