3.1
COMPENSATION / PAY PRACTICES
Salary Administration:
Compensation is based upon the conditions in the labor market, the skills desired, and the
discretion of the pastor/department head/principal in consultation with the local finance council
and the Chancery Office of Human Resources.
Pay Practices:
The Archdiocese follows a bi-weekly (26 payroll checks) payroll schedule, withholding two (2)
weeks. Employees are provided with a payroll calendar annually, outlining the payroll dates and
corresponding payroll periods. Employees are paid every other Friday for their services during
the two week work period ending on the preceding Saturday.
Payroll checks are issued via direct deposit into the bank account (s) of the employee’s choice,
following submission of a completed and signed Direct Deposit Authorization Form. Beginning
January 2021, employees who do not enroll in direct deposit will be issued a Rapid PayCard.
Paper checks may be issued upon written request AND following receipt of a completed and
signed Rapid PayCard opt out form.
Workday/Employee Schedules:
The standard workweek begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday.
Office hours and employee schedules are managed at the local level. Local administrators
including pastors, principals, immediate supervisors, etc. have the authority to make changes to an
employee’s schedules based on business/operational needs.
Employees are expected and required to regularly report to work on time throughout their
scheduled work hours. Employees who are unable to report to work for any reason must
personally notify their manager or supervisor before the scheduled start of their workday. In an
emergency, the absence or tardiness should be reported no later than two (2) hours after the start
of the scheduled work day.
Employees are expected to perform work in his or her assigned work space. Any deviation must
be approved by the employee’s immediate supervisor.
