How will the mentoring work?
Once we have received your application to join the
programme, you will be matched with a mentor and an
introductory email connecting the two of you will be sent.
Who are the mentors?
We have put together a group of mentors from across the
natural stone, architectural and construction sectors. All
of these women are well-experienced within their professions and well-placed to support and encourage you.
From there it will be between the two of you to arrange a
first catch up and we will provide some 'ice-breaker'
questions to ease the flow of conversation, but if you'd
prefer not to use them, that's up to you.
Do I need to be doing the same job as someone to be
matched with them?
No. We recognise that mentoring is first and foremost a
relational dynamic so your mentor may be from a different
specialism but with transferable experiences that can
support you in your career.
We are encouraging each mentor/mentee to initially
commit to 6 months which can be stopped if it is felt by
one or both parties that it is not working out. During this
6-month period, the Mentor should be prepared to meet
with the mentee 2-3 times in person or via Teams and
should be prepared to communicate via email/phone at
least once a month.
Can I put myself forward to be a mentor?
Yes. We are still accepting applications for mentors. If this
is something that you would be interested in, please
email sara@stonefed.org.uk.
Who can be part of the mentoring scheme?
The Women In Natural Stone Mentoring Programme is
open to any woman working in the natural stone sector.
Can I request a specific mentor?
Yes. We can't guarantee that we will be able to match you
with that specific mentor, but we will try our best.
