Attending school, or a summer school, while staying
with a family is an ideal form of immersion. There is no
need for the Irish family to reciprocate with hosting, but
the disadvantage is that it is expensive, and therefore
not a viable option for all students. There is also a
different dynamic in terms of friendship. Students may
make more of an effort at friendship in a reciprocal
exchange, as students will both host and be hosted.
Language summer camps in Ireland tend to be a less
expensive option. There are a selection of companies
overleaf, however it should be noted that this is a random
selection, and not an endorsement of any company.
