LONG SERVICE AWARDS –
PRECAST DIVISION
On 10 August 2023 Montrose Precast
had three employees celebrating
25 years of service at Leiths
James Allan, Derek Wellington and Stefan Godfrey worked at Montrose Concrete products
before it was taken over by Leiths 25 years ago.
James Allan (Factory Supervisor)
In that time all have progressed and gained an enviable skill set as finishers.
All three are proficient in joinery, however Derek has developed his skills and is our go-to
man for any bespoke moulds. Stefan can handle even the trickiest of orders and can be
relied upon to make a tidy job of any precast item. James took over as supervisor in 2015
and has done well to elevate all team members to give their best.
Derek is a keen golfer and most weekends he can be found on the Montrose links golf
course. He also likes to climb Munro’s with friends when able. Stefan likes to take his dog
for long walks around Montrose. James enjoys spending time with his family, attending
Montrose football games and helping with his son’s football team at the weekends.
Thank you to James, Derek and Stefan for your years of service with the company thus far
and hoping there will be many more to come.
Derek Wellington (Concrete Finisher)
New HSEQ Advisor – Alex Mennie
I started my career in Health and Safety as a HSE Co-ordinator/Advisor for a manufacturing
service company who built air conditioning units for both onshore and offshore oil and gas
installations. Following that, I worked within the Aberdeen Oil and Gas industry as a HSEQ
Advisor. I have also worked as a HSE Development Coach for a local charity, and during this
period, I had the responsibility for training personnel in HSE topics for them to gain sufficient
knowledge to sit their CITB touch screen test.
I started with the Leiths Group in April 2023 as an HSEQ Advisor and I’m looking forward to
applying all my previous knowledge and experience to the new role within the Construction
industry. My current position supports the Civil Engineering and Surfacing Division, Markon
and Lawrie Demolition, and I have now met the majority of the squads within the CE&S team.
The biggest surprise since joining the Group is the variety and types of sites and the number
of different trade disciplines we have within the business. Currently my knowledge is
expanding almost daily with carrying out site visits. From these site visits, reports are then
compiled as either site inspections or site audits and, upon completion of the reports, they
are then sent out to the management teams. The reports are also a requirement of our Company accreditations that we hold.
The job role is very interesting due to the variety, and has a good balance of time being spent
onsite and in the office. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead.
In my spare time I enjoy socialising with my family and friends. As well as watching various sports and supporting one of my sons who plays for a local rugby
team, Aberdeen Wanderers, I also enjoy long walks with my 2-year-old Siberian Husky.
