Options on how to register for Venmo’s Charity Account:
NOTES:
• A PayPal account is required first in order to create a charity Venmo
account.
• Since the charity profile is relatively new, the registration process
remains fluid for both PayPal and Venmo, thus additional information
may be required for the set-up.
1) New PayPal and Venmo Accounts: NOTE: Register as a business on
PayPal.com. Required information:
a) Legal First and Last Name (suggest location name – (i.e. First
Name: St. Michael, 2) Last Name: Catholic Church)
b) Email (suggest setting up a unique email for Venmo
communication (i.e. venmo@churchdomain.org)
c) Password: Create a strong password and maintain it in a secure
location.
d) Get Verified – provide legal business name (i.e. EIN name)/trading
name (a recognizable name)/phone/address/non-profit/religious
organization/average monthly donations/EIN/website)
e) PayPal debit card – Debit cards are not permitted by the
Archdiocese.
f) Details of the person responsible for establishing the account (SSN
or last 4 digits of SSN, DOB, Address) This is for PayPal to verify
identity that a legitimate US citizen is establishing the account and
prevent fraud). NOTE: These details will NOT be used for the
Venmo profile set-up.
g) Skip choosing a bank card with PayPal.
h) Once registered with PayPal, register as a charitable business at
PayPal.com/Charities. The 501c3 determination letter may need to
be uploaded. Once verified by PayPal, the account may take 3-5
days to process.
i) Register for a Business Venmo account on:
https://account.venmo.com/signup
Use your PayPal details in the registration process.
Make sure to use the organization’s bank account. Also, a picture of
the organization will help donors identify the proper account.
2) Existing PayPal Account, new Venmo account - Register for a Venmo
