Total Project Value
Part of the Riverscape East Anglia project, the aim
is to improve catchment resilience to climate
change through NFM, par}cularly in terms of
surface water nooding, whilst also gaining mul}bene昀椀ts. Being a chalk stream, the Nar is subject to
a number of pressures including low nows.
This project aims to reduce nood risk by
reconnec}ng the river to its nood plain, enabling
more water to be stored during high nows, whilst
also trapping sediment and pollutants, preven}ng
them from being washed downstream into the
main river. There are poten}al bene昀椀ts to whiteclawed cray昀椀sh.
Outputs:
Crea}on of interconnected ponds, reten}on
areas and meanders, providing capacity during
high nows and slow release back into the
watercourse
Nearly 4,500 m3 of addi}onal water-storage
capacity and nearly 1 ha of new riparian and
pond habitat
