IIntroduction
Welcome to Paper Technology International 2024
We are delighted to present our latest annual print edition, packed once again with a wide range of
insightful articles from right across our industry.
It is hard to imagine a sector where the development of innovative technology and advancement in
ef昀椀ciency and quality has been more striking and exciting over the years than in the 昀椀elds of pulp, paper,
board, and tissue manufacturing. Despite recent and widespread economic unease, the global appetite
for improvements in quality and product choice remains insatiable. Cost and energy saving initiatives,
digitization, and the issue of sustainability and pursuit of circular economy, in tandem with bioeconomy,
continue to be foremost in the minds of mill management and of course the 昀椀nal customer.
Ef昀椀ciency is sustainability, it is therefore unsurprising that so many of the excellent articles herein
have a focus on just that; we once again extend our thanks to all this year’s authors for their invaluable
input.
As all our current Media Partners know however, the majority of our work at PTI is digital/online.
The platforms that we operate continue to grow in international following at incredible speed; our partners
have year-round access through us to all our global social media connections including now, between
PTI and our own personal connections, over 40,000 mill management and senior technical personnel on
LinkedIn alone. Any news items, white papers, video content that we receive is published on our main site
and a link to the item then shared to all our connections.
The content on papertechnologytv.com is also growing fast, and our subscriber base is building
nicely. All new videos receive a heads-up post to our social media network. There is also exciting scope for
the education initiatives we have planned, including serialized and project video content from universities,
and recognised industry educators.
Paper Technology International fully recognizes that today’s students will become the next
generation of employees and industry leaders.
As always, we look forward to meeting up with as many of you as possible at this year’s
conferences and exhibitions and wish you every success in 2024.
