WASPS
EndemicFlora and Fauna
For the past several years we have had a significant surge in the wasp population. As a result, we have
taken more aggressive preventative measures including specialized pest control treatments, sealing all
possible voids around and in the cabins, and regular maintenance checks for wasp nests around the cabins.
Unfortunately, in cold weather wasps hibernate in the walls/cracks/crevices/attics/rafters etc. and remain
dormant until warmer weather hits. Therefore, many times we only become aware of a wasp issue when
they become active again. If this occurs during your stay, please call and email us immediately so we can
contact pest control for wasp treatment. We will also provide wasp spray in these cases which is the most
effective and immediate way to control the issue.
Wasps are attracted to sweet foods, such as soda, fruit, fruit juice, and other foods with high sugar content
as well as table scraps with meat or fish. Therefore, it is important to not keep food or drinks laying around
and be sure to keep all doors and windows closed so wasps do not enter the cabin if outside. Since this is
a regional and seasonal problem that is beyond our management's control, we are unable to relocate
guests to other cabins. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by Mother Nature.
OTHER PESTS AND ANIMALS
The mere fact that you are in the mountains it is inevitable you will
encounter deer, ladybugs, spiders, moths, squirrels, walking sticks,
beetles, flies, wasps, bees, and mice. You are less likely to encounter
snakes, bears, coyotes, lizards, etc unless you are doing more outdoor
activities in the woods.
