The Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team, initially
established in 1976, is an interagency team that responds
to calls anywhere in County and supports police functions
of all agencies. Members include Tualatin Valley Fire &
Rescue, officers from Beaverton, Hillsboro, Sherwood, Tigard,
Tualatin, and Forest Grove police departments, and members
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
During the negotiations, TNT operators used an armored rescue vehicle
designed to access structures from unconventional entry points, in this case,
a second-floor window. The arrest team was able to use the vehicle platform
to safely make entry through the window and take the suspect into custody.
Special thanks to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, who responded with
specially trained SWAT personnel to assist us with deploying the vehicle.
