SITE MANAGEMENT AT SANDY KNOWE WIND FARM
OVERVIEW
A site manager must be present during the
construction of a wind farm to facilitate tasks to
those working on site.
The Sandy Knowe Windfarm in Kirkconnel,
Scotland, will be highlighted in this case study.
A brand-new project, Sandy Knowe Wind Farm
has 24 Vestas V112 3.6MW rated turbines. Vestas
delegated to Coast Renewable Services the duty of
providing site managers to guarantee successful
project delivery for the client ERG Energy.
COAST APPROACH
DELIVERABLES
We supplied a highly competent Site Manager;
they were responsible for ensuring all
components arrived at the site safely and that
the site had enough facilities for the installation
team's welfare.
The project was successfully delivered, and we
completed the installation of the first 14 turbines,
with both the client and the project manager
praising how efficiently the site was managed.
Operating within safety critical sectors we look
to create a zero-harm environment for our team
members and our planet, while delivering clientfocused services which meet and exceed
expectations.
We were also in charge of overseeing the
commissioning works and energising the wind farm
so that it could start producing power to feed into
the grid which then powers thousands of homes
across Scotland with renewable energy.
Currently being installed is the second phase, which
will include the final 10 turbines.
The first stage involved constructing 14 turbines.
To complete this project, Vestas and ERG requested
our Site Management services again to deliver this
project with the hope of maintaining or even
bettering the standard of management from the first
phase of Sandy Knowe Wind Farm.
By 2023 the Sandy Knowe Wind Farm will export over
90MW of clean energy and power hundreds of
thousands of homes.
