The Way Forward
Executing strategic plans and developing performance measures can be a challenge, but we
all understand that good measurement will make a difference in the Foundation’s performance
and will allow for an effective, transformative, and sustainable organization. This plan is a living
document, and it recognizes the need to monitor our goals, objectives, and performance to
update it, when and if necessary, to respond to all our stakeholders. The Board of Directors,
Board of Advisors and staff, with stakeholder input, will develop action plans with performance
measures that will be used to review and assess the Foundation on an annual basis. The
approved Strategic Plan will be used to establish and plan programs, activities, and operations
prior to committing actual resources. When we plan and coordinate with our partners in the
community, the Foundation will be better equipped to accomplish the mission.
The indispensable first step to measure performance is to understand exactly who is doing what
4 and when and why they're doing it 4 with a clear system for proper accountability. Our
directors, advisors and staff will work closely with our partner organizations to achieve our
goals. We will work with all of our stakeholders to gain an overview of the Foundation's
performance. We will develop and implement a balanced measurement system to track a small
number of key measures that collectively reflect all areas of our strategic focus.
Measurement plays a crucial role in translating strategy into tangible results. With this plan, we
will increase our accountability and use the measures as a guide to successfully accomplish
our goals over the next five years.
