TRIAL RUN
Assembling a model has changed little in
generations, with highly skilled model makers
displaying dexterity and incredible patience.
They first dry-fit components to ensure that
everything pieces together perfectly, before
disassembling to paint each element, an
artform in itself. Colours are mixed in small
quantities to match client samples, along
with special finishes such as tiny contrasting
speckles to give the texture of stone and brick.
Once finishes are applied, we carefully put the
components back together – sometimes numbering
thousands – for a robust and durable model. We’re
obsessive about every detail, down to not allowing any
visible sign of adhesive used to fuse components.
