Due to the potential for conflict of interest, TWC’s and TWS’s should not take on other
roles despite being qualified to do so.
3.4.9
Whilst BS 5975 only recommends that those responsible for management of temporary
works, i.e. the DI, the PC’s TWC, TWC (other than the PC’s TWC) and TWS, should be
‘formally appointed in writing’ ALL others involved in the design and supply of
temporary works should be assessed for competency.
3.4.10 BS 5975 does not provide a template ‘letter of appointment’ but the following are
examples provided by the Temporary Works Forum.
